Placements and Print Areas
Understand product placements (front, back, sleeves) and how print areas work.
Placements and Print Areas
Many products support multiple print placements. For example, a t-shirt might offer front, back, left sleeve, and right sleeve printing.
Switching placements
Use the Placement selector in the product panel to switch between available print areas. Each placement has its own canvas with its own layers and design elements.
Available placements
The placements available depend on the product. Common options include:
- Front center — The most common placement, covering the main chest area.
- Back — Full back print area.
- Left/Right sleeve — Smaller print areas on each sleeve.
- Left/Right chest — Small logo-sized areas.
Print area boundaries
Each placement shows a dotted boundary indicating the maximum printable area. Design elements outside this boundary will be clipped during production. The Studio warns you if important parts of your design extend beyond the safe zone.
Background layers across placements
Color Layers and Pattern Layers have an "Apply to All" sync feature — toggle it on to apply the same background across every placement on the product.
Re-using designs across placements
When adding a new layer, you can choose Re-Use Design to copy a design from another placement. This is useful for mirroring front/back artwork or creating coordinated multi-placement designs.
Cost considerations
Adding more placements may increase the base cost of the product. Check the price breakdown when selecting variants for your listing.
